The Hawk IR Sightglasses come complete with locking impact covers to protect the blast resistant optic material against day-to-day blows as required by ANSI C37. The optic material itself has also been successfully impact tested to UL requirements.

The polymer optic, P-Range, must be supported by a mesh material in order to prevent being simply “pushed” into the panel. Although impact testing has been performed on this product with the cover in the open position, it cannot be deemed compliant to ANSI C37 as the impact itself was deflected by the mesh guard rather than the optic itself. This combined with the lack of arc-flash resistance restricts any polymer type IR window to control voltage applications.
Don’t be fooled by so called IEEE C37 “viewing pane” rated impact IR windows, these do not exist!
