The Hawk IR Sightglasses have been tested for resistance to the energy of a 50kA thermoacoustic wave and static pressure in excess of 50psi. Combined thermoacoustic, static pressure and temperature testing is essential for a safe optic type to be installed.
During the Hawk IR Sightglass Arc-Test programme, pressure waves in excess of 600psi have been recorded and passed in accordance with ANSI/IEEE C37. The Hawk IR Sightglass is the product of choice for many major Arc-Resistant switchgear manufacturers.
**IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE – It is not possible for IR Ports or Polymer IR Windows to withstand these massive overpressure events. Such products should not be used on equipment designed with permanent, uninterrupted barriers between the thermographer and the live components
