TESTING – TEMPERATURE

Isolated temperature testing is not indicative of the effects of an electric arc. A correct temperature test for an infrared window is to combine instantaneous temperature increase with static and dynamic over pressure.

The maximum continuous operating temperature of the Hawk IR Sightglass C-Range is limited by the gasket materials which begin to deform at 250degC. The barrier between the thermographer and the exposed conductors – and correspondingly the electric arc -  has a heat flux withstand capability in excess of 40cal/cm2 which falls into the NFPA70E Hazard/Risk category 4, the highest safety level required.

No other infrared window or port product can offer this level of protection, fit Hawk IR Sightglasses and make sure you electrical thermography is to code!
